Being Happy: We all know some irrational fears that limit us because we have somehow been able to suffer them—the fear of spiders, of heights, of closed spaces, and thus a long etcetera. However, we can understand where those phobias are born. However, there is a fear that is much stranger and more complicated than the others; we speak of the fear of being happy, which is based on self-sabotage by the person who suffers them. This fear of being happy is also known as kerophobia in scientific terms.
The reality is that this fear is very common in people, much more than we imagine. In truth, when fear dominates us and does not allow us to be happy, we are falling into a trap that can cost us our well-being. And, you may be afraid of being happy, and you don’t know it yet. It is an option that we cannot rule out, and that can happen to us at any time.
Being Happy :Find out what prevents you from enjoying happiness
We often encounter obstacles on our way, we go through difficult situations, and even if they end, we cannot leave them behind for fear that they will return. The truth is that the fear of being happy is more likely than we think, and to overcome it, we must understand the root of the problem and know the two main things that prevent us from achieving our well-being.
Fear of Being Happy, Because you feel paralyzed
Many people live in fear of having a bad time. Life can be very hard, and people have not been able to manage their setbacks well and are hooked at a bad time. That fear of having a bad time again is precisely what prevents us from being happy, and it paralyzes us and makes us do nothing for ourselves.
When we are afraid, we stand still, not only because of that blockage, but because we think that nothing bad can happen if we do nothing. In the end, we do not want to make decisions in case we are twisted, and we do not realize that this generates a blockage that leads us away from happiness. Fear has completely dominated us, and you are moving away from happiness and what you are really passionate about doing.
To be happy, you have to get rid of fear, and you have to work well-being and continue day by day. We will not be at peace if we do not strive every day. Therefore, we have to get rid of those paralyzes of fear and expose ourselves to making mistakes, but above all, to be happy.
Against you: self-sabotage
When we speak of self-sabotage, we refer to those acts that appear unconsciously or consciously in our life and that prevent the achievement of goals or achievements. From canceling an appointment that can change our work direction, to giving up a person with whom we are falling in love. Self-sabotage encompasses everything that takes us out of our comfort zone, and that could make us happy.
If we analyze the causes that can lead to self-sabotage, we will surely understand that the most common is the fear of failure. However, there are many more reasons that can lead us to take these attitudes and very varied: low self-esteem, third – party pressures, or lack of decision. In any case, realizing it is the first step to end it.
How to end that fear of being happy
There are many situations and circumstances that can lead us to suffer from that fear of being happy, and each of us has our own. Therefore, one of the first steps to allow us to be happy and pave the way to our well-being is to know why we suffer from that fear and be able to work on it at its roots.
Something apparently as simple as having positive thoughts about ourselves can have great benefits, because it will make us believe that little by little we do deserve that happiness that we are depriving ourselves of. Also, taking advantage of spending time with those people that you appreciate the most will be good for you to enjoy and give yourself a few seconds of peace. Then you will see that it is possible to feel better and that you can also be happy like any other person.
A good option is to go to therapy, where a professional can help you see the most hidden causes of your fears and be able to overcome them.
